Firm Overview

LexNova Consulting is a cross-border legal advisory firm serving companies that operate between Mexico and the United States. Since 2010 we have helped businesses form entities, structure transactions, and stay compliant in two legal systems at once.

Our practice spans corporate law, international trade and customs, regulatory compliance, labor matters, and dispute resolution — with bilingual attorneys licensed on both sides of the border.

Clients range from family businesses making their first cross-border move to multinational groups managing established operations in both markets.

We work as one integrated team across six offices, so a matter that begins in Mexico City can be executed in San Diego without hand-offs, translation gaps, or duplicated effort.

Every engagement is led by a partner and grounded in practical, business-first advice: what the law says, what it means for your operation, and what to do next.

Our Background

A brief history of how the firm was built, office by office, along the border.

LexNova was founded in 2010 in Calexico, at the California–Baja California border, by attorneys who kept watching cross-border matters fall into the gap between two legal systems.

What began as a two-lawyer trade-compliance practice grew office by office along the border corridor — Mexicali, Tijuana, San Diego, Ensenada, and Mexico City.

Along the way the firm broadened from customs and trade into full cross-border corporate, regulatory, and labor counsel.

Growth has always followed the same rule: hire bilingual attorneys licensed where our clients actually operate, and keep every matter under one roof.

Fifteen years on, the firm advises hundreds of companies while staying what it was on day one — a border firm, fluent in both systems.

Mission & Purpose

One firm, two jurisdictions — counsel that keeps cross-border business predictable, compliant, and moving.

Our mission is to make operating across the Mexico–US border as straightforward as operating at home. We exist so that two legal systems never mean twice the friction, twice the cost, or twice the risk for our clients.

We practice with structured processes for matter management, conflict checks, and quality review — so advice is consistent, documented, and delivered on time in either language.

We measure success the way our clients do: transactions closed, penalties avoided, disputes resolved, and operations that keep running on both sides of the border.

How We Work

Partner-led matters, clear scopes, and one integrated team across both jurisdictions.

Every engagement is led by a partner who owns the matter end to end — scoping, staffing, and the advice itself. Our attorneys work in integrated cross-border teams, so Mexican and US counsel review the same facts together instead of passing files across a border. Clients get one point of contact, one engagement letter, and one answer.

Practice Areas & Services

Our core practice areas cover the full lifecycle of a cross-border operation: corporate formation and governance, international trade and customs, regulatory compliance, and labor and employment.

Transactional work includes cross-border M&A, joint ventures, distribution and supply agreements, and real estate — structured so the Mexican and US pieces close together, not sequentially.

Compliance teams help clients stay ahead of USMCA/T-MEC rules of origin, customs audits, data protection, and anti-corruption obligations in both countries.

When matters turn contentious, our bilingual litigators handle disputes before Mexican and US courts, arbitration panels, and administrative agencies.

Knowledge & Updates

Cross-border law moves fast — trade rules, tariffs, and regulatory requirements change on both sides of the border every year.

Our attorneys publish regular insights, briefings, and webinars so clients hear about changes from us before they hear about them from a regulator.
